Terms and Conditions


  1. Entry is open to Australian residents over the age of 18.
  2. Employees of Flight Centre Limited and their immediate families are not permitted to enter.
  3. To qualify for an entry into the draw, applicable persons must complete at least one of the following between 30 July 2009 and 30 September 2009 by visiting www.flightcentre.com.au/travel-iq

    4. a. Be already registered as a Flight Centre email subscriber and enter the competition

    b. Register online for Flight Centre email newsletters as a new subscriber and enter the competition

  4. Entry into the draw is through the following:

    5. a. One entry for conducting either 3(a) or 3(b) above – known as Subscription Entry

    b. Answer questions from the Travel IQ Quiz. For each correct question the contestant answers they will receive an additional entry (up to maximum of 10) – know as Quiz Entry.

    c. Therefore maximum entries into the draw for a single play of the quiz is 11 (Subscription Entry + Quiz Entry).

    • Contestants can continue playing to improve their Quiz Entry score (if they answer less than 10 correct answers) however only their highest score (being their final Quiz Entry and up to a maximum of 10) will be added to their Subscription Entry. Therefore the maximum number of entries for each player is 11.
  5. The following will not be permitted entry into the draw:


    6. a. The referrer email address where the referred email address/es are not a valid email address format and/or an existing email address.

    b. The referrer email address where spam software has been utilised to generate referral email address entries.

    c. The referrer email address where referred email address/es have been submitted multiple times from a unique referrer email address.

    Return economy airfares to the chosen tour’s departure point from either Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth or Adelaide, valued at up to $5708 per person

    Up to $5000* spending money in the form of Flight Centre Gift Cards (for the winner only)

    * Spending money will be determined by the number of people the prize winner has referred to subscribe to Flight Centre email newsletters as a new subscriber. Each eligible referral will be eligible for AUD$500 increments. Five eligible referrals with a valid and existing email address (not currently a subscriber to Flight Centre) is worth AUD$2,500 towards the prize winner's spending money. Ten eligible referrals with a valid and existing email address (not currently a subscriber to Flight Centre) is worth AUD$5,000 towards the prize winner’s spending money. There will be a maximum of AUD$5,000 spending money. If the prize winner does not refer any new subscribers with a valid and existing (not currently a subscriber to Flight Centre) address, the amount of spending money will equal zero.

    2. Second Prize

  7. Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable, non-replaceable and non-redeemable for cash.

      • 10-night Antarctic Explorer, 30 November departure only, in an Upper Deck cabin valued at A$7120 per person

    • Includes: Airport arrival transfer in Ushuaia; transfer on day one from Peregrine meeting point to pier and departure transfer on last day of voyage from Ushuaia pier to airport or hotel; ship-board accommodation in an Upper Deck cabin; highly experienced expedition leader; crew and lecturers; all meals on voyage; access to public viewing areas; shore excursions by zodiac boat; on-board lectures, videos, slide and film shows.

    B. All trips are to be taken between 1 October 2009 and 30 September 2010, subject to availability, except the Antarctic Explorer voyage, which is available for the 30 November 2009 departure only.

    C. Estimated prize value may fluctuate slightly due to time of the year trip is taken in relation to high and low season. The value of this prize and inclusions are correct at time of printing and subject to change. Any change to the prize value and inclusions between the publishing date and the date prizes are claimed is not the responsibility of the promoter/s. All prize values are in Australian dollars.

    D. Trip is subject to availability at time of reservation and the winner must contact Peregrine at least 56 days prior to the departure date of the tour chosen.

    E. Trip is provided on a twin share basis. Winner and guest must travel together.

    F. Winner must take the prizes as offered. This prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, cannot be sold or exchanged for cash and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

    G. Additional expenses, including airport departure taxes, meals not specified in the itinerary, insurance (compulsory), any optional tours or activities during free time, US$100 Government Galapagos National Park Fee (Galapagos Encounter trip only), tips and items of a personal nature, are at the winner's expense.

    H. The prize and booking of the prize are subject to the standard booking terms and conditions of Peregrine Adventures. Winner must hold a valid passport and must obtain the necessary visas prior to travel, both of which are at the winner's expense.

    I. The winner will be issued with a travel voucher and instructions about how to redeem the prize from Peregrine Adventures.

  9. Mountain Designs 2nd Prize Voucher conditions: Gift vouchers expire six months after validation (issue). Not Redeemable for cash. Gift vouchers cannot be redeemed with products purchased via the website. Gift vouchers are redeemable at 39 Mountain Designs store locations across Australia and New Zealand.
  10. All airline, accommodation and tour validity dates may vary. Blackout periods and seasonal restrictions may apply.
  11. Booking of travel prize is subject to airline, accommodation and tour availability and Flight Centre Limited’s Booking Terms and Conditions. The recipient of this prize is responsible for all travel costs to and from the points of departure, airport transfers, travel insurance, freight, excess baggage, meals where required, all applicable taxes, levies and charges, passports, extension of stay, additional passengers, tours and any other incidental expenses not stipulated in the first prize inclusions.
  12. The competition commences on 9am 30 July 2009 and closes at 11.59pm on 30 September 2009.
  13. The competition will be drawn electronically.
  14. The prize draw will take place at 11am on Wednesday 14 October 2009 at Flight Centre Head Office, 545 Queen Street, Brisbane QLD 4000.
  15. The prize winners will be notified by phone and email on Friday 16 October 2009 then published in The Australian newspaper on Friday 23 October 2009.
  16. Should an unclaimed prize draw be necessary for any prize, the draw will be held at 11am on Wednesday 20 January 2010 at Flight Centre Head Office, 545 Queen Street, Brisbane QLD 4000. The winners of the unclaimed prize draw will be notified by phone and email and published in The Australian newspaper on Friday 29 January 2010.
  17. The winners consent to the use of their name, suburb of residence and image for promotional and marketing purposes and agrees to participate in reasonable promotional activities as requested by the Promoter.
  18. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not responsible or liable for:

    19. (i) inaccurate/incorrect transcription of entry information;

    (ii) purported entries that are not received for any reason, including because they are lost, misdirected or stolen, or that are received, but are late, illegible, incomplete, sent with insufficient postage (where entry is by post), or sent other than as directed in the entry instructions;

    (iii) any problems or technical failures of any kind, including malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems or network, servers or providers, computer equipment, or software;

    (iv) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any service whether or not caused by traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website;

    (v) unauthorised human intervention in any part of the competition;

    (vi) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the competition;

    (vii) any loss suffered or sustained, to person or property and including, but not limited to, consequential (including economic) loss by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by the Promoter, or its servants or agents, in connection with the arrangement for supply, or the supply, of any goods or services by any person to a prize winner and, where applicable, to any family/persons accompanying a winner; or

    (viii) any injury or damage to persons or property, including to the participant's or any other person's computer related to, or resulting from, participation or downloading any materials in this competition.

  19. The Promoter will not be liable for personal injury suffered during prize winnings. The winner, and his or her guests (if any), must sign and return any liability release and indemnity provided by the Promoter and/or its contractors as a condition of a prize being awarded. Failure to return the signed releases and indemnities will result in the entitlement to the prize being forfeited and the selection of another winner.
  20. This condition does not affect, and is not intended to affect, any rights a consumer might have, which cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection laws. To the fullest extent permitted by law, any liability of the Promoter or its servant or agents for breach of any such rights is limited to the payment of the cost of having the prize supplied again.
  21. The Promoter is Flight Centre Limited ACN 003 377 188 located at Level 2, 545 Adelaide Street, Brisbane QLD 4000. The personal information of entrants will be collected to enable the Promoter to administer and promote this competition and its winners and may be used to market its services to the entrant. The personal information of the entrants will be held and used in accordance with the Promoter's privacy policy which is available at www.flightcentre.com.au. The personal information of winners may be provided to others assisting, including prize suppliers and deliverers, and to authorities that regulate this competition. If an entrant does not truthfully provide all requested personal information, the Promoter may determine that they are not eligible to win the prize.
